"Here And There....."

We wouldn't really be just here,
If we hadn't long journeyed way out there.
We would not have known this,
If we had not experienced all of that.
We could not share in these beautiful things,
If we hadn't adventured in such amazing ways.
We chose to walk over those testing coals,
Then to traverse these many trials and trails...
We wouldn't feel as intensely and so much,
If we did not ponder things so very far.
We would not grasp for those ephemeral heights,
If we didn't understand the contrast of those often dark depths.
The efforts and choices continue to be made right here,
Created by such wonders and gifts from way out there.
Adventures of contrasts and for seeking truths.
Adventures of paradoxes and enlightening perceptions.
Adventures of mysteries and musings await.
Adventures of wonders and cherished memories as well.
We would never have had them just here,
If we hadn't long journeyed so far way out there..... DSD

Dedicated this adventure day to those hardy wanderers with the 2013 Ascent For Alzheimers Team.

Thank you for the most beautiful, inspiring words for our 2013 Ascent for Alzheimer's team.

Hello! I found a summit stone 3 or 4 years ago, atop a summit near Yoho national park. I also found ' An Adventure Muse', which had been nibbled on by some sort of marmot or rodent. It had a couple holes going right through the book. I have since moved out of the mountains and into the prairies for my masters program. I quite enjoy leafing through the 'Adventure Muse', but a lot of the quotes are half gone with the chew holes. I was wondering How I could get a full copy on the 'Adventure Muse'?
Thanks for your reply,
Sandy

Dearest Sandy R.
Their efforts, motivation, and dedication echo out so that others that adventure and then muse - like myself, then feel the need to compose words like this to honour them...

Hello as well Sandy from your past Yoho adventures!
I am glad to hear you have enjoyed that little touchstone and the 'Muse'. They have always been about passing forward, and hopefully raising some awareness along the way. Usually I do my best to place them high enough in a summit cairn, especially a register, so that they are safe from the elements, and little furries who are known for there chewable antics. I would be very happy to send off another 'Muse' on a journey for you. You could catch up with me on Facebook as DSD Stones, or leave an email here (which I would never publish) and I promise to follow-up on this for you...
